Data Connections
Overview
Standard Education receives student data from your district's Student Information System (SIS) through automated nightly data feeds. This data powers your dashboards and student profiles, keeping your view of student information current and accurate.
How Automated Data Feeds Work
Your district's SIS exports data files nightly via SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol). These files contain student demographics, enrollment, attendance, grades, and other records. The data is processed overnight, so your dashboards reflect the previous day's information by morning.
Automated data feeds are configured during your initial onboarding. If your district needs to add a new data feed or modify an existing connection, your Standard Education representative will handle the setup.
Supported SIS Systems
Standard Education integrates with major SIS platforms including:
- PowerSchool
- Skyward
- Infinite Campus
- Other SIS systems may also be supported

What Data Gets Imported
Standard Education receives the following data types from your SIS:
- Student demographics (name, ID, grade, gender, ethnicity)
- Enrollment records (school, classroom assignments)
- Attendance (summary and detailed attendance records)
- Grades and transcripts
- Behavior referrals (where available from your SIS)
- Assessment scores (subject-specific scores and results)
Manual Data Uploads
Some data types require manual upload rather than automated feeds:
- Certain assessment results or screening data
- Roster files for screening cycles
- Custom data uploads for specific analysis needs

Data Freshness and Timing
Automated feeds run nightly. Your dashboard data is typically current as of the previous business day. Assessment data may update on a different schedule depending on how it's imported.
For the most recent student information, check your dashboards after your scheduled data feed window (usually early morning).
Setting Up a New Data Connection
Data connections are configured by the Standard Education team in partnership with your district during onboarding. If you need to:
- Add a new data type
- Change your SIS platform
- Modify your data feed schedule
- Troubleshoot data import issues
Contact your Standard Education representative. They'll work with you and your SIS administrator to set up or update the connection.
