Completing the Screening
Overview
This page is written for teachers completing the SRSS-IE. If you are a district administrator, it is also what to point teachers to when they ask how the tool works.
The SRSS website is a secure site where you rate each of your students on a short set of behavioral indicators. There is no account to create and no password to remember.
Getting Started
- Open the screening link sent to you by your district IT office
- Verify your name, grade level, and student roster. You should see every student on your homeroom roster
- Select a student and rate each item
- Move to the next student
Your link is unique to you and shows only your students. If the list looks wrong — students missing, or students you do not teach — stop and contact your district contact rather than rating them.
Do not forward or share your link
Each link is personalized to you. Forwarding it to a colleague gives them your student list, not theirs.
Devices
The site works from desktop, laptop, tablet, iPhone, and Android. Use whatever you have. Nothing needs to be installed.
Saving and Returning
You do not have to complete every student in one sitting. Progress is saved as you go, and you can reopen your link later to pick up where you left off.
Rating the Items
You will rate each student on two sets of indicators — externalizing (outward behaviors) and internalizing (internal emotional states). Each item is rated on a four-point scale:

Rate what you have observed
Rate the behavior you have actually seen in your classroom, not what you have heard from other staff or read in a file. The screener is designed around direct teacher observation, and that is what makes it useful.
Opting a Student Out
Students with a parent opt-out on file appear in your list but are grayed out. That flag came from your district when the roster was built, and you do not need to do anything with those students.
Each student also has an additional selection on their screener for late-enrollment opt-outs. Your district sets the rule for when it applies — typically that the student enrolled after a cut-off date and the counselor has a parent letter on file. Your kickoff email should state your district's version.
Check your district's policy first
Districts differ on when a student should be opted out. Consult your administrator about the rules in your district before opting a student out on your own judgment.
Privacy
The screening site is secure and your ratings are visible only to district administrators with access to Standard Education dashboards. Ratings are not shared with students or families through this tool.
Training Video
Standard Education provides a short teacher training video that walks through the screening interface: Digitizing the SRSS-IE. It is also typically included in the kickoff email you received with your screening link.
If Something Goes Wrong
- Link does not open — confirm you are using the link sent to you, not one forwarded by a colleague.
- A student is missing — contact your district contact; students are added from the district roster, not in the tool.
- You lost the link — request a resend from your district IT office. Do not use another teacher's link.
