Assessments / SRSS-IE

Prepare and Upload Your Roster

Overview

Everything in an SRSS-IE implementation starts with your roster file. It tells us which students are being screened, which teacher screens them, and where to send each teacher's screening link. Send it as a CSV or Excel file.

Start from the template: SRSS Import TEMPLATE.xlsx

Required Columns

ColumnDescription
Student NumberYour district's unique student identifier
Student NameThe student's name as it should appear to the teacher
GradeThe student's grade level
SchoolThe school the student attends
Teacher NameThe teacher who will complete the screening for this student
Teacher Email AddressWhere that teacher's screening link will be sent

Optional Columns

ColumnValuesDescription
Opt-outY or NFlags a student who should not be assessed

The opt-out column is optional because districts handle assessment opt-outs differently. See Handling Opt-Outs for how the field behaves and how teachers can opt a student out during screening.

Teacher email addresses drive everything downstream

Each teacher's screening link is generated from their entry in this file. A missing or mistyped teacher email address means that teacher does not get a link, and the students assigned to them do not get screened. Check this column carefully before uploading.

Running IE and EC Together

If your district is conducting both SRSS-IE and SRSS-EC, send the two rosters as separate files. Do not combine them into one file or one sheet — the two screenings are set up independently.

How to Upload

Upload your roster through the Standard Education portal rather than sending it by email:

  1. Log in to portal.standardeducation.com
  2. Select File Uploader
  3. Upload your roster file

Do not email roster files

Roster files contain student-identifying information. The File Uploader is the supported channel for sending them to us. Do not attach a roster to an email or share it through a personal file-sharing account.

For a step-by-step walkthrough of the uploader itself, see Upload a Roster File and Roster Uploader.

Common Problems

  • Inconsistent school names — "Lincoln ES", "Lincoln Elementary", and "Lincoln Elem." will be treated as three different schools in your dashboards. Pick one spelling per school and use it throughout.
  • Teachers listed under multiple spellings — the same teacher entered two different ways will receive two separate screening links, each with part of their roster.
  • Missing grade values — grade drives several dashboard filters and the Ci3T-aligned output views.

What Happens Next

Once we have a complete file, setup takes about two weeks. We then send back a file pairing each teacher with their screening URL. See Teacher Links and Access.

Roster template

Rather than building the file from scratch, start from our template: SRSS Import TEMPLATE.xlsx. The columns are already laid out in the order we expect.
